NBCFGFG would like to share our candidate endorsements with followers of our pages.  NBCFGFG doesn’t endorse ANY INCUMBENT candidates.  These candidates who already hold seats on council and are running for re-election or Mayor (Slater, Engelke), have not served the will of voters.  That position is well documented here on our pages, but it should be clear to voters that supported 6-176 and 6-177 that sitting council members ignored your vote in November, of 2018 on the Public Safety Fee by imposing an even larger fee increase in February, of 2019.  Further incumbents (Slater, Engelke) voted to cut the police force staffing even after NBCFGFG made a detailed budget presentation to City Council in June of 2020 showing surpluses of money rendering the action unecessary.  Following the questionnaire NBCFGFG submitted and the responses received by everyone but Mr. Clow on our page, and our review of the League of Women Voters interviews we can endorse the following candidates:

MAYOR:  James Rose

Mr. Rose was very involved in the NBCFGFG successful effort to get 176 and 177 on the ballot and passed.  He spent substantial time in analysis of the City’s 20-21 preliminary budget and understands it well.  He is a local business owner/operator.  He has substantial budget and management experience, he is a veteran military pilot, and has done various volunteering and coaching in the community.  His wife grew up in North Bend, and his children attended North Bend High School. They have gone on to successful careers of their own.  Jim has a B.S. in Business Administration and an M.S. is Financial Management. He has prepared a cogent and detailed plan for the substantial work that lies ahead of City in the years to come.  He is the clear choice: a leader and not a follower with borrowed and re-hashed ideas and rhetoric. CITY COUNCIL: Susanna Noordhoff, Jonathan Vineyard, Pat Goll

Susanna Noordhoff: She brings a much needed balance to the council, and a breadth of valuable experience that is currently missing.  With Bachelor’s Degrees in Urban Planning and Civil Engineering she brings council expertise for all measure of development issues, city planning, zoning, urban water dependent zoning overlays, etc. This experience has not been present on the council but is in high demand.  In addition, she has engineered and designed some local amenities now in use such as North Bend School District’s Oak St. baseball fields. In addition, she has been a very active and regular observer of the council, frequently attending meetings, weighing in on various issues, reviewing video and consistently reviewing minutes of meetings.  She is highly prepared and ready to serve. https://oregontoday.net/susanna-noordhoff-for-north-bend-city-council-2020/  or  https://theworldlink.com/news/north-bend-residents-fight-simpson-park-tree-removal-proposal/article_213eb26e-7e8d-11ea-9127-47cdec057c87.html

Jonathan Vinyard: As a military veteran, and County Sheriff’s Deputy, Jonathan understands the key issues around the Public Safety Fee, the staffing of the NBPD, patrol schedule philosophies.  He would be a valuable member of the council team to bring some clarity to disparities in NBPD staffing compared to other like cities, and policing strategies and tactics to more effectively deal with NB’s mental health/homeless issues.  We believe Jonathan will ask questions and seek solutions to combining resources to achieve economy of scale with important safety issues like 911 services.  He seeks more transparency and openness in the business details of the city operation, and sees that we need a change and a new direction now.  For more information about Jonathan, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MY_1_h6USyQ

Pat Goll:  Pat is known and trusted by long-time city residents and can help rebuild trust, integrity, transparency and team in city operations. We believe Pat was frustrated these past couple years with what he saw as a lack of common sense, and respect for the voters.s an experienced City Councilor having served on the Council previously, and he’s familiar with the budgetary issues, the Public Safety Fee and a number of other ongoing city issues.   As a result he’s ready to take on the issues again.  Pat serves a potentially important role on Council as a bridge between sitting council members and new members, and potentially a new mayor.   You can learn more about his responses to our questions here:  https://nbcfgfg.org/nbcfgfg-city-council-candidate-questionnaire-2020/
